Overview

  • Supplier
    Absolute Antibody
  • Product Name
    Anti-Botulinum neurotoxin [BotFab 5]
  • Delivery Days Customer

  • Antibody Specificity
The antibody is specific for the hemagglutinin portion of the botulinum neurotoxin A and B complexes.
  • Application Supplier Note
The Fab was shown by ELISA to be reactive to botulinum types A and B toxin complexes and not reactive to the 150 kDa NT of type A or B that lacked the non-NT proteins found in the complex. (US5932449A) Surface plasmon resonance demonstrated that the Fab displays a slightly tighter equilibrium binding constant towards botulinum toxin B than toxin A. The dissociation rate constants (kd1 and kd2) with botulinum toxin A are 7.1x10^-3 and 2.3x10^-4 s^-1 (ratio 1:2), while with botulinum toxin B the values are 3.7x10^-3 and 5.7x10^-4 s^-1 (ratio 1:3.5). The Fab antibody was used in an indirect flow cytometric immunoassay to detect the presence of pentavalent toxoid A-B-C-D-E and botulinum toxoid A; the antibody detected the presence of botulinum toxoid A. The limit of sensitivity of the Fab fragment for botulinum toxoid is between 5 and 10 ng/ml (PMID: 10945449)
