This antibody is specific for the lyt-2 protein of mice (it is psecific to the Lyt2.2 variant which is expressed in the mouse strains BALB/c and C57BL/6 (B/6)). Lyt-2 is an integral membrane glycoprotein that plays an essential role in the immune response

This antibody was used for an immunofluorescence experiment on mouse thymocytes and mouse spleen cells (Sarmiento et al, 1980; pmid:6159417). Immunoprecipitation was preformed on NP-40 extract of 126I surfae labeled L3 cells using this antibody (Sarmiento et al, 1980; pmid:6159417). This antibody was used to try and block the cytolytic activity from L3 against P-185. It only blocks the receptor-mediated but not lectin mediated cytolysis by L3 (Dialynas et al, 1981; pmid:6788878). Flow cytometry was preformed with this antibody on washed cells from the lymph node, spleen, thymus and peripheral blood from mice (Rodriguez and Sriram, 1988; pmid:2966203). This antibody was used to stain mouse spleen cells for use in flow cytometry (Mielke et al, 1988; pmid:2969373).
