This antibody is a specific binder for enrofloxacin and did not cross-react with other fluoroquinolone antibiotics including structurally similar ciprofloxacin.

This antibody was capable of binding the biotin analogue of enrofloxacin in an ELISA. The binding affinity of the original scFv antibody to enrofloxacin-biotin analogue was reported to be Kd = 2.5 microM. This antibody was used in the development of an ScFv biosensor for qualitative detection of antibiotics in livestock drinking water (PMID: 21142055)
