- Antibody SpecificityThis antibody reacts with the galactocerebroside and other lipids found on the surface of late oligodendrocyte precursors. This antibody also reacted with monogalactosyl-diglyceride and psychosine (PMID: 2600978). Oligodendrocytes produce myelin sheath to
- Application Supplier NoteIndirect immunofluorescence in cultures of early postnatal mouse cerebellum, cerebrum, spinal cord, optic nerve, and retina was used to study the localization of the antigen bound by this antibody. The original IgM version of this antibody has been used in complement-dependent cytotoxic elimination of cerebellar oligodendrocytes in culture (PMID: 6786942). The reactivity of this antibody towards lipids like galactocerebroside, monogalactosyl-diglyceride and psychosine was texted using ELISA and dot-blots (PMID: 2600978). This antibody along with another oligodendrocyte antibody O4 and oligodendroglial precursor cells (OPC) antibody A2B5 can be used for the immunocytochemical study the developmental stages of oligodendrocytes (PMID: 28230075). O4 antibody specific antigens are expressed on early dendrocyte progenitor and O1 antigens are expressed on late oligodendrocyte progenitors (PMID: 6178060). This antibody was used in the flow cytometric characterization of mouse oligodendroglial cell populations for study of mouse demyelinating disease (PMID: 25247590).
