  • Antibody Specificity
This antibody is specific for infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). IBDV is a highly contagious disease of young chickens and turkeys caused by infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV),[1] characterized by immunosuppression and mortality generally at 3 to
  • Application Supplier Note
To characterize this antibody an ELISA was preformed on IBDV using a phage expressing the scFv version of this antibody. Furthermore, to assess the ability of this antibody to neutralize IBDV, the scFv version of this antibody was mixed with chicken embryo fibroblasts and the GT101 version of IBDV. This antibody showed the ability to neutralize the virus to a considerable extent (Sapats et al, 2003; pmid:12607101). To investigate high pressure processing as a means to inactivate avian viral pathogens in chicken meat homogenate, the scFv version of this antibody was used for immunohistochemistry on bursae from chicken. Furthermore, ELISA was preformed on the chorioallantoic membrane harvested from chicken eggs using the scFv version of this antibody (Buckow et al, 2017). To improve the recombinant antibody-based serological assay for foot-and-mouth disease virus, a western blot was preformed using the scFv version of this antibody on 3B protein (Muller et al, 2010; pmid:19913020).

  • Scientific Description
This full-length chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original scFv format for improved compatibility with existing reagents assays and techniques.

    Virus
  • Reactivity Supplier
    Infectious bursal disease virus
  • Reactivity Supplier Note
The original anitbody was isolated from antibody libraries derived from splenic mRNA of chickens immunized with an Australian strain of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV). The antibody was isolated by panning the chiken scFv library against IBDV strain 002/73.
