- Antibody SpecificityThis antibody recognizes the human keratin, types 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 13, and 18. Because of its wide range in keratin specificity, it often is referred to in literature as pan-keratin.
- Application Supplier NoteThis original IgG1 antibody can be used to detect human keratin. Its specificity has been confirmed using immunofluorescence (Fehm et al., 2002; PMID: 12114406). One group used immunofluorescence to test if circulating epithelial cells were malignant (Fehm et al., 2002; PMID: 12114406), which was later built upon with the discovery that these cells remained in circulation until many years after treatment (Meng et al., 2004; PMID: 15623589). Another group used the antibodies with immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry to visualize the progression of breast cancer once it had breached the epithelial cell layer (Khalil et al., 2017; PMID: 28894989). A final group used this antibody with immunofluorescence and western blotting to research the apoptotic response of keracinocytes to ultraviolet-B light (Mei, Lian, 2011; PMID: 21362287).
