This antibody recognizes lactoferrin, an iron-binding protein which is stored within the secondary granules of granulocytes.

This original IgG1 mouse antibody is specific towards human lactoferrin, which was shown in- and outside the cell using immunofluorescence (Knapp et al., 1993; PMID: 8210650). One group used the original mouse IgG1 antibody with flow cytochemistry to identify the immunophenotype of several rhesus monkeys (Weisgrau et al., 2019; PMID: 30395351).
