The antibody is specific for ractopamine. The antibody does not cross react with clenbuterol, mabuterol, terbutanline, adrenalin, chloramphenicol and enrofloxacin.

The specificity of the original format of the antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis (CN103160515B). The single-chain variable fragment of the antibody conjugated to alkaline phosphatase (asFv-AP) fusion protein was used for the development of a rapid, sensitive chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay (CLEIA) and direct competitive CLEIA for ractopamine (IC50= 0.25 ng/mL, LOD= 0.02 ng/mL, working detection range = 0.05-1.45 ng/mL) (Dong et al., 2012; PMID: 22769009).
