- Application Supplier NoteThis antibody shows both anti-viral and anti-inflammatory effects and is a promising candidate for treating for active human RSV infection. The binding specificity of this antibody towards G protein of three strains of RSV namely long, A2 and 8/60 was determined using ELISA (PMID: 2420819). This antibody showed no neutralizing activity against RSV A2, Long, or 82-776 (PMID: 2459412). This antibody was used in a therapeutic treatment where it was found to mediate virus clearance and decrease leukocyte trafficking and interferon gamma (IFN-gamma) production in the lungs of RSV-infected mice (PMID: 19264600). Another study reported that treatment with mAb 131-2G on day 3 after RSV infection reduces both inflammation and RSV titer in the lungs of RSV infected mice. It is proposed that this antibody alone or in combination with other anti-RSV F protein neutralizing antibodies could be effective in decreasing the virus-induced host response to infection and improve treatment outcome (PMID: 19545210). Combined treatment with antibodies 130-6D and 131-2G significantly decreased RSV-associated pulmonary inflammation compared to either antibody alone (PMID: 23300550).
