  • Scientific Description
SUCLG2 (Succinate-CoA Ligase GDP-Forming Subunit Beta) is the GTP-specific beta subunit of succinyl-CoA synthetase. GTP-specific succinyl-CoA synthetase functions in the citric acid cycle (TCA cycle), coupling the hydrolysis of succinyl-CoA with the synthesis of GTP. It represents the only step of substrate-level Phosphorylatedrylation in the TCA cycle. The beta subunit provides the nucleotide specificity of the enzyme and binds the substrate succinate, while the alpha subunit contains the binding sites for coenzyme A and phosphate.
