- Antibody SpecificityTPO is a cell surface enzyme responsible for thyroid hormone synthesis and present in virtually all patients with active autoimmune thyroid disease.
- Application Supplier NoteWR.1.7. binds human TPO with a Kd of 2.9 x 10^-10 M (Chazenbalk et al, 1993). Competition assays were used to characterise the WR1.7 eptitope with respect to other clones, identifying that WR1.7 binds a distinct eptitope to clone TR1.9 (Chazenbalk et al, 1993). WR1.7, TR1.9, SP1.4, and TR1.8 together map the immunodominant region of TPO recognised by autoantibodies in patients sera (Nishikawa et al, 1994). WR1.7 was able to inhibit TPO autoantibodies in patients sera as shown with further competition studies between antibody fragments and serum TPO autoantibodies (Chazenbalk et al, 1993). WR1.7 has been used to detect cells expressing cell surface TPO through flow cytometry (Jaume et al, 1999).
