Culture system: Vero cell culture. Preparation: Chlamydia trachomatis elementary and reticular bodies, purified from infected host cells by density gradient centrifugation. Presented in phosphate buffered saline pH 7.5. Inactivation: Heat treatment and sonication. Inactivity is confirmed by attempted growth under original culture conditions. Since no procedure can guarantee absolute sterility, the reagent should be handled with appropriate safety precautions.
