CMV pp28 protein.The protein contains the CMV pp28 immunodominantregions. The protein is purified by proprietary chromatographictechnique.Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), a member of theherpesvirus family, demonstrates cell specificity for virusassembly and release. The human cytomegalovirus pp28is a myristylated phosphoprotein that is a constituent ofthe virion. The pp28 protein is positioned within thetegument of the virus particle, a protein structure thatresides between the capsid and envelope. In the infectedcell, pp28 is found in a cytoplasmic compartment derivedfrom the Golgi apparatus, where the virus buds intovesicles to acquire its final membrane.
