Collagen type ,Oe is expressed more abundant in the skin, intestine and arteries, but more uniform in the fetus than in the adult. It contains 25% - 50% of total skin collagen in adults. In patients with eds-iv deficiency, collagen type III decreased in other tissues, especially in the aorta. Type ,Oe collagen is an important component of dilated organs such as arteries. Its absence or reduction leads to premature wear and tear of organs in early adulthood.
