Rabbit polyclonal antibody to SAE2 is a member of the ubiquitin-activating E1 family. It controls ATP-dependent activation of SUMO proteins, followed by formation of a thioester bond. The bond is between a SUMO protein and a conserved active site cysteine residue on UBA2/SAE2. It is a major regulator of protein function in cellular processes such as nuclear transport, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis and protein stability.
