The protein has ATPase activity at the time of manufacture of 2.3 microM phosphate liberated/hr/microg protein in a 200 microl reaction at 37C (pH 8.0) in the presence of 20 microl of 1 mM ATP using a Malachite Green assay.

It is localized in the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), and is involved in the folding and assembly of proteins in the ER.
