  • Scientific Description
LANA2 (latency-associated nuclear antigen) is an inhibitor of p53-induced transcription in reporter assays and may be an apoptosis antagonist. It is a nuclear protein associated with Kaposis sarcoma-associated herpes virus (KSHV), or human herpes virus 8. It is found in abundance in the nuclei of cultured cells from KSHV-infected hematopoietic tissues, such as PEL (primary effusion lymphoma) and CD (multicentric Castlemans disease). It does not appear to be expressed in KS (Kaposis sarcoma) lesions.
