Genetex Sheep anti Lactoperoxidase antibody was used to detect Lactoperoxidase under reducing (R) and non-reducing (NR) conditions. Reduced samples of purified target proteins contained 4% BME and were boiled for 5 minutes. Samples of ~1ug of protein per lane were run by SDS-PAGE. Protein was transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with 1:3000 dilution of primary antibody (ON 4 C ).

- Scientific DescriptionLactoperoxidase is a natural antibacterial agent in bovine milk, a medium otherwise rich in its ability to support bacterial growth. Milk lactoperoxidase levels vary among species, ranging from little or none in humans to very high concentrations in guinea pigs. Interestingly, lactoperoxidase from milk is identical to the lacrimal and salivary forms of the enzyme. In addition, the enzyme catalyzes the hydrogen peroxide oxidation of iodine and can be employed in labelling proteins with radioiodine.
