- Antibody SpecificityThis antibody recognizes a protein of 18kDa, identified at Melan A (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T- cells 1) or Melan-A. The MART-1 recognizes a subcellular fraction found in melanosomes. The antibody labels melanomas and tumors showing melanocytic diff
- Application Supplier NoteIHC:For an ABC system, dilute 1:50-100 and incubate for 30-60 minutes at RT. For formalin fixed paraffin embedded sections, perform heat mediated antigen retrieval before commencing with IHC. It is sometimes difficult to interpret DAB stained melanomas due to endogenous pigment. We recommend you substitute an AEC or a Fast Red substrate protocol. An avidin biotin blocking may be required for certain types of melanomas.

- Scientific DescriptionMART-1 (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T cells) or Melan-A is a newly identified melanocyte differentiation antigen recognized by autologous cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Seven other melanoma associated antigens recognized by autologous cytotoxic T cells include MAGE-1, MAGE-3, tyrosinase, gp100, gp75, BAGE-1, and GAGE-1. Subcellular fractionation shows that MART-1 is present in melanosomes and endoplasmic reticulum.
