Methyl-piperidino-pyrazole (MPP) dihydrochloride is a highly selective antagonist for estrogen receptor alpha (ERalpha), with an affinity 200 times greater than for estrogen receptor beta (ERbeta). It inhibits 17beta-estradiol binding to ERalpha by inducing conformational changes that alter the receptors binding site and also increases the energy required for genisteins interaction with ERalpha.
