Okanin, a chalcone found in the flower tea Coreopsis tinctoria, effectively reduces LPS-induced microglial activation by inhibiting the TLR4/NF-kappaB signalling pathways. It also reduces LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO) production and iNOS expression by increasing HO-1 expression. It exhibits a potential as a nutritional preventive measure for neurodegenerative disorders.
