Scientific Description
Biotin-protein ligase activates biotin to form biotinyl 5' adenylate and transfers the biotin to biotin-accepting proteins. Biotin ligase also controls biotin synthesis in Escherichia coli. As a homodimer, it negatively controls the biotin synthetic operon.
