T-Cadinol, a sesquiterpene isolated from C. sylvestris, exhibits anti-Trypanosoma cruzi activity with IC50 values of 18.2 microM and 15.8 microM against trypomastigote and amastigote forms, respectively. It induces mitochondrial damage in parasites, causing membrane hyperpolarization and reduced levels of reactive oxygen species. T-Cadinol is used in Chagas disease research [1].
