3-Butynoic acid is an inhibitor of acyl CoA dehydrogenase. 3-Butynoic acid is a click chemistry reagent, it contains an Alkyne group and can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules containing Azide groups. 3-Butynoic acid can reduce the formation of propionate and acrylic acid concentration-dependently[1].
