5alpha-Pregnane-3alpha,20alpha-diol, an active metabolite of progesterone, is synthesized through intermediates 5alpha-pregnane-20alpha-ol-3-one and 5alpha-pregnane-3alpha-ol-20-one from progesterone. This compound, at a concentration of 10 microM, elevates intracellular calcium levels in washed isolated human platelets.
