ADIPOR1 Protein, a receptor for adiponectin (ADIPOQ), crucially regulates glucose and lipid metabolism, maintaining homeostasis and healthy body weight. Upon ADIPOQ binding, ADIPOR1 activates AMPK, promoting fatty acid oxidation and glucose uptake while inhibiting gluconeogenesis. ADIPOR1 interacts with APPL2, negatively regulating signaling, and with APPL1, enhancing ADIPOQ-induced recruitment and positive regulation of adiponectin signaling.
