  • Scientific Description
Broad-spectrum semisynthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic derived from kanamycin A, which is effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Aminoglycoside antibiotics bind the 30s ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of the mRNA sequence and inhibition of translocation, consequently inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Commonly used in clinical in vitro microbiological antimicrobial susceptibility tests (ASTs, panels, discs, and MIC strips) of organisms such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Ehrlichia phagocytophila. - Chemical.
