To show that this antibody can detect virus particles, a sandwich ELISA was performed on African horse sickness virus, it showed a positive result (van Wyngaardt et al, 2004; pmid: 15059288). A DAS-ELISA was performed on the scFv version of this antibody using AHSV-3 as antigen, it showed a limit of detection of 2 ng and reacted very strongly to the AHSV-3 serotype and very little with other serotypes (van Wyngaardt et al, 2013; pmid:23388433).
