This antibody is specific for the extracellular domain of human recombinant transmembrane-truncated (DTM) alphavbeta6 integrin, a dimeric cell surface protein that mediates cell attachment. alphavbeta6 integrin promotes the activation of latent TGF-beta.

This antibody has been used to specifically bind alphavbeta6 in Western blots and in flow cytometry, and to specifically stain alphavbeta6 integrins in FFPE (formalin fixed paraffin embedded)/TMA material, where murine antibodies function poorly (Goodman et al, 2012; Hebeta et al., 2014; Roth et al, 2013). This revealed alphavbeta6 to be strongly expressed in samples of invasive ductal breast adenoma, colorectal carcinoma, and NSCLC.
