    The antibody is specific for BDE-47 and it does not cross react with BDE-153, BDE-154, BDE-183, triclocarbon and TBBPA. BDE-47 is a polybrominated diphenyl ether which has been used as flame retardant.

    The specificity of the VHH fragment was confirmed by cELISA analysis. The VHH fragment showed increased thermal stability compared to polyclonal antibodies. The VHH antibody was immobilized onto an Au electrode and used for impedance biosensing, showing a detection limit for BDE-47 of approximately 0.79 microg/L (Bever et al., 2014; PMID: 25005746).
