- Scientific DescriptionCalponin-1 is a 34 kDa thin filament-associated protein that is implicated in the regulation and modulation of smooth muscle contraction. It interacts with actin, tropomyosin and calmodulin. Calponin-1 binds actin to promote and sustain polymerization. The binding of calponin to F-actin inhibits the MgATPase activity of smooth muscle myosin. The expression of Calponion-1 is specific to differentiated mature smooth muscle cells, suggesting a role in contractile functions. It is up-regulated in smooth muscle tissues during postnatal development with a higher content in phasic smooth muscle of the digestive tract. Calponin-1 has been found to be useful in differentiating benign sclerosing lesions of the breast from carcinoma. Calponin-1 positivity has also been noted in malignant myoepithelioma and pleomorphic adenoma of salivary gland origin, as well as angiomatoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma. - Recombinant Antibody. This antibody reacts to human or mouse Calponin-1. Applications: WB, ICC. Source: Rabbit. Liquid. 50% Glycerol/PBS with 1% BSA and 0.09% sodium azide.
