R454511 binds to residues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 11 of CsA.

Mutagenesis of Cs-derivatives identified that R454511 binds to residues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 11 of CsA (Quesniaux et al., 1990). In ELISA experimenets, R454511 was found to bind to Cs conjugated with both Thr2 (Thr2-Cs-BSA) and Lys8 (D-Lys8-Cs-BSA) (Quesniaux et al., 1990). The crystal structure of R454511 in complex with CsA has been obtained to 2.65 A resolution (Altschuh et al., 1992).

This chimeric human antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.

BALB/c mice were immunised with a D-Lys^8-Cs derivative coupled to a carrier protein.
