This antibody is specific for fumonisin B1. It does not react with other toxins like ochratoxin A, aflatoxin B1 and deoxynivalenol. Fumonisin B1 (FB1) is a mycotoxin produced by the various species of Fusarium fungus specifically, Fusarium verticillioides

This antibody can be used to detect fumonisin B1 in a contaminated sample. This antibody reacts with fumonisin B1 in an ELISA assay. It was reported that the scFv version of this antibody showed 12 fold lower binding activity towards FMB(1)-BSA as compared to the parental whole IgG antibody (PMID: 19597742).
