- Antibody SpecificityThis antibody binds hemaglutinin of most group 2 influenza viruses including H3N2 and H7N7.
- Application Supplier NoteCR8020 has a broad neutralizing activity against most group 2 viruses, including H3N2 and H7N7. The crystal structure of Fab CR8020 with the 1968 pandemic H3 hemagglutinin (HA) reveals a highly conserved epitope in the HA stalk distinct from the epitope recognized by the VH1-69 group 1 antibodies. CR8020 binds most group 2 HAs with high affinity, including H3 isolates. Flow cytometry was used to test the ability of the antibody to bind different structural HA conformations of recombinant influenza A subtype H3. Therapeutic treatment with 15 mg/kg of CR8020 up to 2 days after infection with H3N2 completely prevented mortality, whereas 50% of the mice treated 3 days after infection were protected (PMID: 21737702). It is reported that Oseltamivir/Zanamivir may congruously improve the therapeutic efficacy of CR8020 (PMID: 22693576).
