    The original mouse IgG antibody binds human IL-1A with a binding affinity of Kd= 0.35 nM. The binding characterization of this antibody was done using ELISA. In vitro antibody potency was determined by its ability to inhibit IL-8 production by MRC-5 cells. This antibody was able to inhibit IL-8 production by MRC-5 cells with an IC50 of 2.40E-10M. This antibody was used in combination with 6B12.4F6 (anti-IL-1beta) antibody for the generation of anti-human IL-1alpha/beta DVD-Ig molecule that had therapeutic potential (PMID: 20068402).
