The binding specificity of this antibody for the murine leukemia virus (MuLV) p30gag capsid polypeptide has been confirmed in immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence analysis (Cheseboro et al, 1983). When cell surface binding to virus-infected cells was investigated through immunoprecipitation, this antibody was observed to react with all ecotropic and amphotropic strains tested, but not SFFV (Cheseboro et al, 1983). When expressed intracellularly, an scFv with the same binding specificity as this antibody inhibits the production of MuLV (Marin et al, 2000).
