  • Antibody Specificity
This antibody recognizes Plakophilin-1. It binds the epitope within the first 27 amino acids from the N-terminal region and it does not cross react with Plakophilin 2 and Plakophilin 3. Plakophilins influence development and participate in linking cadheri
  • Application Supplier Note
10B2 is recommedned for the detection and analysis of Plakophilin-1. In order to identify potential perturbations in cell adherence, this antibody was used to detect plakophilin-1 in the skin tissue of patients with epidermolysis bullosa via immunofluorescence (Pigors et al., 2011; pmid: 21320868). Further, this antibody was demonstrated to have a potential diagnostic role in certain diseases, such as Ectodermal Dysplasia/Skin Fragility Syndrome where it was used to differentiate between a diseased and healthy skin samples (Sprecher et al., 2004; pmid: 15086548). It was also shown that 10B2 antibody can detect plakophilin-1 (PKP1) via Western blot (here: in HaCaT protein lysates) (Bonne et al., 2003; pmid: 12707304).
