This antibody inhibits the association of SARS-CoV s protein to the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor by binding to specific amino acids on the S1 domain of the spike protein of the virus. It has a neutralizing titer 200TCID50 of 0.195microg/ml (Coughlin et at.,2006) and IC50 of 1.9 microg/ml when incubated with S12-510- Fc recombinant protein (Coughlin et at.,2009). Combination of this antibody with another antibody 4d4, that binds to a different epitope resulted in increased inhibition of virus (Coughlin et at.,2009). Other applications include ELISA.
