- Scientific DescriptionRho-related GTP-binding protein RhoQ, also known as TC10, is a protein that is encoded by the RHOQ gene in human. TC10 is a member of the RAS superfamily of small GTP-binding proteins involved in insulin-stimulated glucose uptake. In melanocytic cells RHOQ gene expression may be regulated by MITF. It is a plasma membrane-associated small GTPase which cycles between an active GTP-bound and an inactive GDP-bound state. In active state binds to a variety of effector proteins to regulate cellular responses. TC10 involved in epithelial cell polarization processes, and it may play a role in CFTR trafficking to the plasma membrane.
