The testosterone binding affinity of the 5F2 Fab fragment is 900 nM as determined by a competitive ELISA. Binding specificity of the 5F2 Fab was also studied by using 5alpha- dihydrotestosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate and androstenedione. Furthermore the Fab version of this antibody was co-crystallized with testosterone and the structure was identified using x-ray crystallography (Niemi et al, 2011; pmid:21360611).
