The antibody is binds testosterone and shows some cross reactivity with progesterone. Testosterone is the primary sex hormone and anabolic steroid in males.

The binding specificity of scFv antibody against various steroid hormones and intermediates was checked using ELISA. Further a luciferase assay using the human version of this antibody showed that the antibody can prevent testosterone activating the androgen receptor in cultured human cells (WO2008009960).
