Overview
- SupplierAbsolute Antibody
- Product NameAnti-Thyroglobulin [aThy-23]
- Delivery Days Customer9
- Application Supplier NoteThe antibody binds specifically to thyroglobulin, a dimeric protein produced by the follicular cells of the thyroid gland. Thyroglobulin is the precursor of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Levels of thyroglobulin in the blood can be used as markers for certain thyroid tumours, and these levels can sometimes be masked by the presence of thyroglobulin antibodies, which are found most commonly in patients with Hashimotos thyroiditis and Graves disease. The detection of anti-Tg antibodies can therefore be used to test for these diseases.
