This antibody is capable of detecting live vaccinia virus in a sample.

The binding specificity of this antibody towards vaccinia virus was checked using ELISA. It was reported that the original VHH antibody G retained ~40% of its activity after heating for 40min decreasing to around 3% of original activity after 80min (PMID:17165813).
