  • Antibody Specificity
The antibody is specific for protein E of the 17D yellow fever virus. Protein E binds to host cell surface receptor and mediates fusion between viral and cellular membranes.
  • Application Supplier Note
To characterize the mouse version of this antibody a radioimmunoassay with this antibody was performed on Vero cells infected with 17D YF. Further the presence of this antibody was confirmed by a 90% plaque reduction neutralization test in Vero cells (Schlesinger et al, 1983; pmid:6187129). To develop a diagnostic test to determine the presence of yellow fever virus in the blood of a patient. An ELISA was performed on the 17D YFV antigen using the mouse version of this antibody (Monath and Nystrom, 1984; pmid:6364854). To define the process of YFV entry into target cell. Flow cytometry was preformed using the mouse version of this antibody on cells infected with YFV. (Fernandez-Garcia et al, 2016; pmid:26861019). Type specific and cross reactive determinants were identified using immunofluorescence on yellow fever viruses using the mouse version of this antibody (Monath et al, 1984; pmid:6206738).
