- Scientific DescriptionBimatoprost is a synthetic prostamide FP receptor agonist, structurally related to prostaglandin F2alpha that finds clinical use as an ocular hypotensive agent for the treatment of glaucoma. Bimatoprost is therefore an antiglaucoma agent. Bimatoprost is converted by an amidase enzymatic activity to yield the corresponding free acid, 17-phenyl trinor PGF2alpha, a potent PGF2alphaR agonist.
