  • Scientific Description
Bradykinin is a pro-inflammatory peptide that acts through G-protein-coupled receptors. It is an endogenous bradykinin receptor agonist that exhibits selectivity for the B2 receptor over the B1 receptor. Bradykinin is endogenously formed following pathophysiological stimuli such as inflammation, tissue damage, or anoxia. It is an activator of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS; NOS III) and it reduces blood pressure by inducing the release of prostacyclin, nitric oxide and endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor. Bradykinin plays an important role in the regulation of fluid and electrolyte balance, non-vascular smooth muscle contraction, vasodilation and capillary permeability. - Chemical. CAS: 6846-03-3.
