The CEACAM3 protein is a key granulocyte receptor that effectively orchestrates the opsonin-independent phagocytosis of CEACAM-bound microorganisms such as Neisseria spp., Moraxella spp., and Haemophilus spp. This role places CEACAM3 at the forefront of pathogen clearance in the innate immune system.
