Cyclam is a metal chelator that forms metal complexes with a variety of metal ions. Cyclam metal complexes exhibits anti-HIV (such as AMD3100), nitric oxide (NO) releasing and scavenging (such as Zn(II)-Cyclam and Ru(II)-Cyclam), and SOD mimetic (such as Mn(III)-Cyclam and Zn(II)-Cyclam) activities[1].
