- Scientific DescriptionEpidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a potent mitogenic growth factor ~6 kDa protein, consisting of a single polypeptide of 53 amino acid residues and three intramolecular disulfide bonds that stimulates cell growth, proliferation and differentiation, oncogenesis and wound healing. EGF exerts its effects in the target cells by binding to the transmembrane protein tyrosine kinase EGF receptor. EGF proteins are evolutionarily conserved across many species. This recombinant EGF product is a highly pure and bioactive growth factor providing high performance and reproducible results among various stem cell culture, and cell manufacturing applications, including direct differentiation of hepatic progenitors into mature hepatocytes, expansion of neural progenitors, formation of germ cells, formation of intestinal organoids, as well as in wound healing studies, tissue engineering, and cancer research.
