Erythropoietin

Erythropoietin Protein is a glycoprotein cytokine secreted mainly by the kidneys in response to cellular hypoxia. It regulates erythrocyte growth and balance. EPO binding to its receptor (EPOR) triggers EPOR dimerization, activating JAK2. This initiates downstream events involving effectors like STAT1 and STAT3, crucial for erythrocyte proliferation, differentiation, and maintaining optimal blood cell levels.
